Circle Fresh Organic Produce Growers in Colorado
Elliott Gardens was started in North Denver in 1963 by Buddy and Donna Elliott. Buddy grew up truck farming in Commerce City with his father. Buddy and Donna started out with 30,000 square feet of cut carnation production. They had plenty of help from their three boys, Bill Jr., Mark and Brett.
By the early 1980′s cut carnations sales were on the decline so they decided to get into fresh herb production. Being one of the pioneers in herb growing in Colorado, their business started to grow rapidly. They added 35,000 square feet of growing area for organic produce. By the early 90′s they were in full production of fresh herbs, most of which were sold at local grocery stores and food services, as well as growing wholesale and retail bedding plants for seasonal sales. In 2010 Elliott’s added a 10,000 site hydroponic growing system for growing living basil as well as organic living lettuce.
Recently, upon joining the Circle Fresh Farms network, Elliott Gardens added 20,000 sq.ft. for the production of organic greenhouse tomatoes and cucumbers. We at Elliott Gardens think the future of the horticulture industry will be in growing fresh local produce for our consumers here in Colorado.
