The GrowHaus is a food justice and urban agriculture non-profit in Denver’s Elyria- Swansea neighborhood. Their mission is to increase the accessibility and affordability of fresh, healthy food and organic produce in that community through three integrated components: an indoor farm, a local market, and educational programming.
The heart of the GrowHaus is sustainable food production. Using permaculture principles and organic techniques, their goal is to grow organic produce and food year-round with a minimum of external inputs.
Growasis Farm, meanwhile, is a public demonstration farm that will eventually comprise 8,000 square feet at the south end of the GrowHaus. Growasis includes the following elements:
Aquaponics (a technique for raising fish and plants together in an efficient recirculating system)
Year-round plots for Elyria-Swansea residents
Commercial production of microgreens (young, nutrient-rich greens)
A lecture and demonstration area with in-house teaching kitchen
